Infinite Blue - August 2021 Update
Today marks the midpoint between summer and fall, and as we begin transitioning in seasons, production for Infinite Blue is moving into a new phase!
WritingThe writing for the main game is finished, coming in at an estimated 200-250k words. This is still the first draft, so there’s plenty of work to be done and notes to go through, but it’s a major step!
DemoThe focus of production has shifted to the demo. Rather than have it be the prologue or vertical slice of the main plot, I wanted it to be a story in and of itself, where you could get to know the characters and get used to the chat system. It tells a lighthearted side story with its own CGs and multiple endings. The writing is done, now it’s only a matter of gathering the assets to begin programming.
ArtThe biggest news in the art department is that the sprites for the main six are complete! The introductory CGs for the characters are finished as well. I have yet to decide whether I should release them all, or keep it a surprise. (Okay, I’ll probably release them all because they’re too good not to share!) The background artist is also close to having 16 backgrounds done, with 5 more to go.
What’s next? Here’s a look at what’s coming up in the Infinite Blue world:
- Character icons for the chat UI
- Promotional illustrations
- Lots and lots of editing for me
- Website and newsletter
- Character profiles
Also, I may or may not be able to confirm that a second game is in concept (I won’t say development until writing begins). But Infinite Blue will always be priority #1 until release. That’s it for this update! Before you go, please take in the slightly emo beauty that is Rory Gatlin, if you haven’t seen it yet.
Thanks for reading and have a good month! :)
